In the Syracuse Post Standard there have been a few articles on the expansion (or connection) of the Franklin Square Creekwalk to the Syracuse Inner Harbor. This expansion also includes plan to extend the Franklin Square section to Armory Square and to extend the Inner Harbor to Onondaga Lake. Because I’ve never actually walked the Franklin Square section, that’s where Chinook and I went today for our walk.
I thought this completed section was beautiful. Of course, I’ve always liked the building in this area (and the square itself) but this creekwalk trail rivaled the Oswego Creekwalk, which is saying something. The biggested surprise to me was the amount of people actually using the trail. We must have passed 50 people, most in dress clothes, walking this section on their lunch. This is exactly the sort of “healthy lifestyle” that county hopes to promote with the investment of the trail’s expansion.
The trail itself was only one mile round trip from end to end, but well worth checking out if you haven’t been there already. I have additional pictures and links on my Onondaga Creekwalk, Franklin Square Creekwalk & Syracuse Inner Harbor pages of my Trails, Tails and Tents blog.
