Easter …

07 Apr

We had a really nice Easter — thanks to mom and dad for hosting.  The girls (and Dave) did a great job in the kitchen.  Here’s a few of the pictures from over the weekend.

Buona Pasqua

It was a bright, pleasant Easter Day today. Although the temperature wasn’t exactly balmy, we took the group picture above outside at my parents house in Cleveland, New York. We all are showing our signs of aging, but for the most part, everyone was in good health.

Its pretty much a tradition that we celebrate Easter at my mother’s house and one of the highlights of the day is Easter breakfast. When I was younger, my grandmother used to cook frittata for everyone in the immediate family early Easter morning and then many of our extended family (my great aunts, uncles and cousins) would swing by throughout the day. We would actually continue to set the dining room tables in shifts until everyone had an opportunity to fix a plate.

Now my mother, with the assistance of my wife and my aunts carry on this tradition. So, first thing this morning, we picked up my grandfather and headed out to my mom’s to get a jump on the cooking — a feat that would have been accomplished much quicker had we known the cheese was still in Syracuse and wouldn’t arrive until the second wave of aunts and uncles arrived.

As usual they did a great job on breakfast and then went out to make additional frittatas for everyone to bring home — another tradition. I think they made something like 15 this year. After breakfast people sort of kicked back until supper was ready. There was a lively game of “Scene It” that took place in the family room, the occasional sneak to the dessert table and of course the occasional nap. For me, I picked a few photos from my mothers photo albums that I wanted to use for future posts that I have planned.

It did seam a little weird that we didn’t drag the card table out on a holiday, but maybe in the interest of peace, it was a good move. I did miss it though.

Mom made a great diner and we had come to the realization that a larger table would be needed for future family events. Yes, it’s true that Judy and Dave are expecting, but that’s not the only reason that our family is getting larger — just look at the egges used this morning.

I hope all of my other friends and family had a Happy Easter as well.

Easter Eggs

Here is a picture of this year’s kitchen crew.

You might be asking yourself, “Where is Diane?” Well, someone has to be doing the work while these guys are taking pictures. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it into the photo.

All the ladies did a great job as usual.
